Your responsibilities will involve financial data analysis, reporting, supporting in financial statement preparation, engaging in audits and compliance, and collaborating with fellow team members to solve financial challenges.

This position is on a temporary contract.

 

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in audits applicable to the key responsibilities and provide necessary documentation, reconciling financial records and addressing auditor inquiries
  • Assist the Team Leader in management of Council’s investment portfolio and ensure Council’s investment register maintained and cash flow is managed
  • Maintain Council’s Trust Register
  • Assist debt recovery of Council’s sundry debtors
  • Maintain clear and open communication with colleagues and supervisors, sharing insights, finds and recommendations effectively
  • Stay updated on financial regulations and best practices, and ensure adherence to them in all financial activities

As a Graduate Accountant, you hold a degree in Accounting, or working towards, and your analytical skills are your strong suit. You excel in clear communication, have an eagerness to learn and grow, and are tech-savvy, with proficiency in tools like Microsoft Excel.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or substantial completion
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • A desire to learn and grow in the field of accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards and Legislation, relevant to the position
