The opportunity

Working across our Engaged Communities and Economic & Community Wellbeing teams, the Graduate Communications Officer is a full-time, entry-level position centred around engaging directly with youth in the community via Manningham Council’s communication outlets and establishing a strong connection with local schools in the Manningham municipality.

Key activities of this role include:

  • supporting the development of communication plans tailored to reach youth audiences, raise awareness of Manningham Council’s activities and encourage engagement with youth in the community.
  • assisting development of communication plans, utilising the full range of Manningham Councils contemporary communication channels to communicate and engage youth audiences.
  • collaborating with youth and external agencies to develop key messages for attracting other youth community members.
  • assisting in the maintenance of Manningham Council’s digital asset library and supporting digital campaigns.
  • supporting as a communications liaison between Manningham Council and local schools in the Manningham municipality.

About you

  • You have completed a tertiary degree in Communications and/or another relevant field with a focus on digital, within the last 2 years.
  • You are seeking an entry-level pathway into the workforce, looking to create a foundation for a career in communications.
  • You are able to engage and collaborate with youth and work with youth professionals with integrity and empathy.
  • You have some experience in a similar communications or other relevant professional or volunteer role.
  • You are customer focussed with the ability to build relationships with people.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • You are a problem solver with a sound understanding of digital communication practices and systems.
  • You understand digital communications principles and policies and how to apply them.
  • You are a team player with a willingness to contribute and collaborate well with others.
