About the Role The Infrastructure Delivery Department within Council plays an important role in delivering the day to day functionality of the Shire. The teams within this Department bring together maintenance, renewal and construction of vital infrastructure with the goal of a sustainable future for our community. Infrastructure includes roads, bridges, drains, flood gates, parks and playing fields. The primary purpose of this role is to lead the Department in line with the organisation’s values to achieve sound, sustainable and innovative infrastructure for our community. This position will also act as the alternate Local Emergency Management Officer (LEMO) during emergency incidents. What you will be doing:
  • Developing and communicating clear forward work programs for the Department and individual staff.
  • Mentoring, supporting and developing staff.
  • Ensure that all staff have clearly defined responsibilities, objectives and performance criteria and regular feedback is provided.
  • Constructing, maintaining and renewing infrastructure in accordance with the Operational Plan and asset management plans for road, drain, bridge and recreational assets.
  • Maintaining compliance to state and federal requirements and other relevant standards
  • Responding to community members regarding issues and complaints raised relevant to the role.
  • Providing support and advice to assist long term asset planning and investigation & design services.
  • Supporting and promoting Council’s Work Health Safety Management System (WHSMS).

About You: The Successful Candidate To be successful in this role, you should possess the following/ If successful in attaining the role you will be provided with: Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, asset management or a related discipline relevant to the role, or extensive experience relevant to the role. Leadership qualifications and or training is highly desirable. You should also possess working knowledge and experience across the disciplines of civil construction & maintenance, parks construction & maintenance, project and asset management including financial and budget management. You should also possess superior communication skills, procurement and contract management experience, negotiation and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate approaches their work with enthusiasm and is driven to make a difference and a strong background in road construction/maintenance, paving and design management.
