ABOUT THE ROLE

The Planning Cadet Officer will be required to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Planning and Development Department by participating as a member of the Planning and Building team and by providing a high-quality level of customer service to customers and callers to the Planning and Building section.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.

ABOUT YOU

Council is looking for someone who has the following qualities, experience and/or qualifications: 

  • Commitment to completing Diploma in Town Planning.
  • Relevant work experience in the following areas: 
  • preparation of correspondence and reports
  • record keeping procedures, including electronic systems
  • customer service
  • administration support
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the proven ability to contribute to a cohesive team environment, maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders service and ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake duties in a positive manner to promote cooperation and good relationships between Council, the neighbouring Councils and other Government Departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated competence in internal and external customer service focus, including provision of requested information and follow through on requests.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work both as a team member and unsupervised whilst producing high quality work under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated numeracy, written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • General Construction and Induction card.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence.
