About the role

The primary focus of the role is to provide heritage advice to internal and external stakeholders in the development assessment process. You will work with a team of heritage and urban design professionals ensuring that the team works to meet its targets and commitments against your team and Council’s Operational and Strategic Plans.

You will facilitate partnerships, across Council, and help solve problems and resolve issues with regard to heritage matters. In particular the position requires good partnerships within the Development Assessment section of Council as the primary role of the position is to provide heritage advice for Pre-Development Applications, Development Applications and associated applications submitted to Inner West Council.

This position is temporary for up to June 2025 and is intended for students and recent graduates who are either currently undertaking or recently completed their studies in Heritage Conservation or equivalent related discipline.

*Please note that this role has the potential to be offered on a part-time basis.

Eligibility to apply

To be eligible to apply, applicants must be enrolled in and studying or have recently completed a relevant course.

Remuneration

For Student: Award Prescribed (up to $54,870.40) + 11% Superannuation

For Graduate: $80,935.92 to $91,563.16 + 11% Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications 

1. Undertaking Tertiary qualifications or recent completion of tertiary qualifications in Heritage Conservation or equivalent related discipline;
2. Knowledge of heritage related matters in the development assessment field;
3. Knowledge of Heritage Act 1977 and related legislation and also The Burra Charter and concepts as they relate to development assessment
4. Current Class C NSW Driver's Licence
