Our City is growing, and the organisation is preparing to support this growth. Our population is forecast to increase by over 21 per cent by 2036. Our prime location between Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra, combined with an increase in business and industry as well as affordable prime industrial land, is attracting an increasing number of major government and major infrastructure projects.
As a result of the continued growth of the City and Region, Council is currently seeking applications from planning professionals for critical roles, all of which will influence the future of Wagga Wagga and the Region.
Council has two (2) positions available within the Development Assessment and Building Certification Team, being:
13-02-2024- Permanent Town Planner role or Cadet Town Planner role with the opportunity to progress to permanent Town Planning role.
- Commencing salary of $3,039.20 gpf with the opportunity to progress to $3,647.04 gpf + superannuation (Town Planner)
- Commencing salary of $2,620.62 gpf with the opportunity to progress to $3,144.74 gpf + superannuation (Cadet Town Planner)
- Permanent full-time hours with access to Council’s Flexible Working Hours Agreement.

- Assessment of a broad range of development applications including major and controversial developments
- Developing, reviewing and implementing Council’s Development Control Procedures
- Providing input to the review and development of Council’s strategic policy documents
- Researching, analysing and reporting on changes to NSW planning legislation, policy and guidelines.
- General planning duties related to statutory regulations
- Mentoring junior planning staff, providing technical advice and guidance
