About the Role

As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you’ll get the opportunity to apply what you’ve studied – working in the field solving real-world challenges, challenges that span and extend beyond your discipline.  You will have the opportunity to gain valued experience in engineering design, reliability and project management rotating throughout the different working areas.

The Engineering teams have a strong working relationship with the mining and metallurgical assets and life cycle management team. There is a strong focus on preventative maintenance, delivering consistent results which are reflected in the low down-time on our equipment. Whether it is working underground, on HV projects, or in the Concentrators or Smelters, your exposure to the full range of Electrical Engineering projects is unprecedented.

A typical day will involve working under the guidance of an experienced team, assisting with designing, developing, supporting the installation, operations and maintenance of electrical systems for both surface and underground mining operations. In addition, you will also be provided with opportunities to work on electrical systems used for computing, communications and other industrial applications. Seeing the effort you invest, resolve risk and improve our business is rewarding but not without its hurdles. You will have the opportunity to work with leaders in your field in the following locations:

Mount Isa, North West Queensland (Residential).
Mount Isa is a thriving city of 23,000 acting as a hub for regional business, transport, services and government in north-west Queensland.  With every sporting club you can think of, golf course, restaurants, gyms and movie theatre, there is always plenty to do.  Explore the region with some of the best fishing and camping locations right at your doorstep.  Residential roles will also attract relocation assistance, three months’ transit accommodation, as well as housing assistance.

Townsville, North Queensland (Residential).
Located on the coast in tropical North Queensland, Glencore’s Townsville Operations encompass Copper Refineries Pty Ltd and Glencore Port Operations.  Our Townsville Operations mark the final link in Glencore’s fully integrated north Queensland supply chain, connecting the natural resources we produce with markets around the world.  Copper Refineries Pty Ltd is one the world’s leading electrolytic copper refineries, capable of producing 300,000 tonnes per year of premium-quality ISA brand LME Grade A copper cathode using Glencore’s proprietary IsaKIDD refining process. Glencore Port Operations at the Port of Townsville is the export gateway for our north Queensland products.
