Guest Blogger: Paul Russell on the AAGE Conference

Posted by Belinda Luby

I’m full of anticipation and expectation as the 23rd Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) annual Conference is less than a week away.  This year’s conference is shaping up as the largest Conference to date, with international guests flying in from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and New Zealand.  The conference will be held at the Sydney Hilton (9-11 November) which was recently refurbished and houses state of the art technology.

One of the features at the 2011 Conference is the high calibre keynote speakers including body language expert Alan Pease, demographer Avril Henry and Comedian Dave Hughes.  I am really looking forward to the industry expo with nearly 40 suppliers demonstrating what’s new in the market in relation to attraction, marketing, talent management, retention and all things grad.

Some may not know that included in the price of the Conference is the social evening at the top of Sky Tower, networking with industry colleagues while feasting on canapés and champagne, with a magnificent 360 degree view across Sydney.  Also included is the Gala Awards Dinner on Thursday 10 November where the industry Awards, the  Australian Graduate Recruitment Industry Awards (AGRIAs) are presented-followed by the GradConnection after party in the salubrious and historic Marble Bar.

I think all 350 registered delegates (from over 100 private and public sector organisations) will get a great deal from the conference with the networking with University Careers advisors, suppliers and AAGE members.  The highly participative and interactive workshops that are spread across the three days means that there is something at the AAGE Conference for everyone.

I look forward to personally welcoming you!
