Benefits of participating
Winning entrants will have the opportunity to network and gain insights with representatives of some of South Africa’s leading graduate employers and also receive a certificate and trophy. If you go all the way, you will also be recognised nationally in one of South Africa’s on the awards night in front of top Graduate employers. You will also get to attend a best practice assessment centre and meet other finalists and become a member of our very powerful GradStar Alumni.
If you don’t make it to the finals, you will get invaluable experience around applying for your first graduate program. The competition application process itself emulates the process that many of South Africa’s top graduate and internship employers use to find their future talent (psychometric testing, video interviewing) and is a good opportunity for you to familiarise yourselves with the formal graduate program application process. At the same time, this process will enable you to identify your own personal/professional strengths or weaknesses – a critical element to future career success.

Am I Eligible?
If you are currently studying at a South African university and will be studying at any point in 2017, we want you! This means as long as you are not graduating this year you are eligible. We want students of all different stripes and spots. We don't care what you are studying, whether you are an international student, undergraduate or post graduate. Anyone can be a future leader, so why not you?
Being a future leader is not just about good grades. Perhaps you are the Club Captain of a sports club, or the president of a society. Perhaps you donate your time to a worthy cause or are fighting for social change. You could be a youth leader, a champion chess player or have been working in your field of study while at university. Whatever it is, if you are different in some way you are a potential future leader.
The Application Process:
1. Apply!
First off all you have to do is spend 20 minutes of your time applying. We will ask you a range of questions in an online form that is similar to what would be asked in a graduate or vacation program. Think of it as free practice!
2. Psychometric Testing
You will then be invited to sit a psychometric test produced by a popular psychometric testing provider for used by a number of top employers. We will use the same screening process to determine whether you get invited to the next stage.
3. Video interviewing
Here we will ask you a few questions over video interview that we will then share with employers so they can decide whether you are a finalist.
One the finalists have been decided, they will be invited to an assessment day in Johannesburg where the employers will select ’10 of the Finest’. Expenses will be covered for those who do not reside in Johannesburg.
On the 27th September, the Top candidates will be invited to participate in an assessment centre in JHB, and on the night of the 28th of September all finalists will also attend to our GradStar awards evening where the ’10 of the Finest’ will be announced in front of an audience of Graduate Employers.
Get in contact with the employers you want to talk to before every other graduate can. Get invited to apply for their graduate programs, or even have a job offer before they officially open up their graduate program applications for 2016/2017.
