Developing the GradConnection iPhone App
As a Junior developer at GradConnection, i am tasked with an exciting project as we move GradConnection to the mobile. After months of development, today marks the day that we officially launch our first native iPhone GradConnection Application!
Our iPhone app offers students and graduates with the power to browse employers on all our global sites. The app also allows the searching of jobs according to interested Industries and Job types so users can better narrow down their future jobs.
At present our the iPhone app is in its first stage. We will be working hard over the coming months to deliver an application we believe will be used by students and graduates around the world!
About the App's Development:
As a Junior developer, I jumped into mobile application programming world with little knowledge of native code. Initially our vision of mobile applications at GradConnection was to leverage new technologies such as HTML5 to build our application. We followed this vision with our first release of our HTML5 iPhone app back in April, but after encountering issues with the application's reliability, speed and Apple's approval process, we decided that going towards native code was more promising.
This has promoted huge IT change at GradConnection, with a huge backend code re haul in the works to get ready for the mobile age. Although we are in the early stages of this re haul, our iPhone mobile application is amongst the first to utilize this change.
