The Big Meet Careers Fair gets BIGGER!

The AAGE Big Meet fairs have proved so popular that even Australia's smaller cities need a Big Meet too. A careers fair that started in 2008 in Perth and Sydney is excited to announce that this year's Big Meet will be even bigger,  to include two new cities - Adelaide and Brisbane. The Big Meet's in Brisbane and Adelaide will be a 'combined fair' organised by the AAGE and promoted to students attending universities in the respective metropolitan areas.

What is "The Big Meet"?

If you haven't heard of The Big Meet before, it's a careers fair run for and by graduate employers. Each one-day fairs attracts thousands of students and is run during the careers fair season in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. In the last two years the events have attracted grad employers looking for students from a range of universities in a single day, providing great bang for their buck. The events are held at major event centres and are promoted in the lead up through partner universities, in major newspapers and of course online through GradConnection and various social media platforms.

Access to Talent

Employers have long been targetting students from the Brisbane area and are increasingly looking to talent in Adelaide too, so taking The Big Meet into these locations will provide wider access to great quality candidates. Many employers have commented in the past on the quality of students that attend The Big Meet. Because it is run off-campus, students who attend have made a special effort to do so and often come having done their homework on employers, and ready (and often dressed!) to impress! All students are also "badged" so employers can identify what year they are and what university right away.

Staying in Touch with Attendees

One especially nifty thing about The Big Meet is that the contact details for every student who attends are collected on entry to the fair, and provided to exhibitors afterwards. This means employers can segment and target final year students from vacationers, and contact prospective candidates by degree. So exhibitors are not only getting to talk to students on the day but after the event too, including those that may have missed their stall.
