In your final year and looking to land a graduate job for next year? The time to apply is now! Expert grad recruiter, Kelly Pfeffer (Graduate Talent Lead, Suncorp Group), shares the top three things students and recent grads need to know going into the grad recruitment process this year.
1. Hybrid recruitment is the way to go
Having the grad recruitment process moved to being completely online may not have seemed ideal to begin with, but employers have now come to realise the benefits of facilitating some components virtually.
What does this mean for you? Expect to be invited to a variety of different processes and methods – from virtual assessments to in-person interviews, ensure you practice and come prepared for both!
2. Employers will continue to hire all year round
Traditionally the period from February – April is when the most graduate programs will be accepting applications, but more recently employers have been more open to recruiting throughout the year.
What does this mean for you? Don’t feel like once this first peak hiring period is over, it’s the end of your options. If you’re in your final year, continue looking all year-round for the opportunities that are right for you!
3. Getting back on campus
You might not be the only one excited about getting back on campus – employers are too! Get ready for in-person careers fairs, networking events and more.
What does this mean for you? If you’ve spent the last couple of years at uni doing mostly online learning, this is a great opportunity to practice engaging and connecting with people face-to-face for when you start going into the office regularly.
