About the Role

Are you stimulated by the opportunity to expand your research skills with access to the latest technology in molecular spectroscopy? We are seeking an Applications Chemist Intern to support the development application solutions and sales collateral that contributes to increase the visibility for molecular spectroscopy to our key target markets of Chemical and Energy, Environmental, Materials, and Food.  As a priority, the role will create content supporting digital marketing programs that builds a web presence for Agilent.

This position will involve working with product marketing, commercial marketing, application development teams, the Digital Strategy and Content Manager to produce and analyze data, and create compelling content demonstrating instrument capabilities, software features as well as improve application-specific workflows.

You will work with a dynamic team that's designing and implementing marketing strategies and collaborating closely with other functions to develop new solutions, and you'll have all the support and encouragement you need to grow your skills and knowledge base as you go.

Responsibilities

As an Application Chemist your focus will be in our laboratory and being hands on with the latest generation of molecular spectroscopy instruments, designing experiments and preparing and analyzing a range of sample types, reviewing results, writing application notes and papers, recording videos, preparing presentations for internal and external customers, demonstrating proof of concept, and software testing.  Candidates can expect to have access to innovative analytical instrumentation as well as active mentoring and guidance to develop experiments to address market-specific analytical questions.

Required Qualifications/Attributes

This position requires a candidate who:

  • Can work as part of a team to build and execute experiments to analyze samples using Agilent’s molecular spectroscopy products (Laser Direct Infrared (LDIR) Imaging, UV-Vis and UV-Vis-NIR, FTIR, and fluorescence spectroscopy).

  • Work independently and safely in a laboratory environment.

  • Ability to detail their experimental design, present results in a structured and clear format.

  • Possesses clear communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Collaborate with both product marketing and product development teams.

  • Have some expertise with molecular spectroscopy instruments (UV-Vis, FTIR or Raman a strong plus) including sample preparation/wet lab techniques, data collection and reporting.

  • Exhibit an inquiring mind, be a self-starter and have a proactive approach

  • The successful candidate will currently be pursuing a degree (Bachelor, Masters or PhD) in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or Environmental Chemistry and be available to work full time for a 12-month period.
