Are you a highly motivated graduate currently studying mechanical engineering? We’re inviting two graduates to be part of our excellent 2-year program within our manufacturing division. As a Mechanical Engineer Graduate, you’ll have the opportunity to work with our unique manufacturing facilities that are leading the way towards a more sustainable future.
 

During the program, you will work alongside a dynamic and talented group of mechanical engineers that provide design and discipline engineering expertise, for the development of projects, turnaround, maintenance and key manufacturing units.
 

Hired on a permanent full-time basis, you’ll complete 6-month rotations across the respective business units where you will learn and develop under the guidance of our Leaders and teams. Our Leaders bring strong technical expertise, cross-functional experience, and a commercial focus that propels our business forward and they are dedicated to passing on their knowledge to the next generation, which could be you!
 

Program Details:

  • Start Date: February 2025
  • Location: QLD based Program – Lytton Refinery
  • Onsite: This role will require graduates to be onsite but we do offer flexibility to work from home.

About you:

To be successful, you will be entering your final year of study in 2024, or completed your undergraduate within the last two years and will be available to commence full-time employment in February 2025. We are seeking two mechanical engineers experienced in fixed and rotating equipment.

Mechanical Engineer (Fixed Equipment): As a Mechanical Engineer specialising in fixed equipment, you’ll play a crucial role in providing discipline engineering to ensure the reliability and safety of our industrial assets. Your expertise will be focused on pressure vessels, piping systems, and static equipment in general. We seek someone with experience in Finite Element Analysis, Fitness for Service Assessments, and Engineering Studies. Familiarity with engineering standards (such as ASTM, ASME, and API) is preferred but not essential. Additionally, proficiency in analytics tools like Power BI will be valuable.

Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment): As a Mechanical Engineer specialising in rotating equipment, you’ll work on critical assets like reciprocating and rotary compressors, steam turbines, and API-610 pumps. Vibration analysis, life cycle assessments, maintenance strategy developments, and discipline engineering will be part of your toolkit. Knowledge of engineering standards (ASTM, ASME, API) is preferred but not essential. Experience with asset management packages (such as System 1, Bently Nevada, GE Digital) and data analytics (including Power BI) will be valuable.

If you apply to multiple streams, please be aware we will only consider the first two preferences on your initial application. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a digital interview and psychometric testing. A fair and equitable review of your skills, background, and motivations will take place by the Recruitment Team.

A chance for you to bring your best self and hear from us, you will undertake an assessment centre day in September and specific activity aligned to the business area.

Ampol’s grad program goes for two years and involves four six-month rotations.
