About the Team:
The Commercial team’s ambition is to deliver energy transition in Australia at the lowest cost and risk to electricity consumers and government. The ASL commercial team contribute to this through competitive tenders, which deliver timely, high quality, energy infrastructure. Within Commercial, the Tender Delivery team has a specific focus to design and deliver end to end tender processes. This includes:
- Tender design and end-to-end delivery of the tender process to support revenue underwriting of energy infrastructure for government schemes, including those of NSW, SA and Commonwealth governments
- Working closely with Australian governments and private sector investors to establish relationships of trust. These relationships allow ASL to learn, educate, build awareness and gather insights for tender and product design refinements
- Understand and support the commercial design of products and contracts (e.g. design LTESA, REZ access rights and in collaboration with government partners)
- Understand and support the design and implementation of a robust probity and compliance frameworks in the tender process
About the Role and Responsibilities:
As an ASL Graduate, your role has both common and targeted responsibilities specific to your business unit and studies specifically. This role is a flexible and adaptable supporting role, that contributes to ASL’s outcomes and deliverables, through a range of administrative activities and the application of recently acquired tertiary knowledge and skills. Based in Sydney, commencing in July 2026, the position will transition to the business on a permanent basis at the conclusion of the program, in December 2027 and will sit and rotate-only within the Commercial division.
Common responsibilities include;
- Undertake research, analysis and administrative activities to support the development and implementation of projects, policies and programs that support key business priorities
- Collect, analyse and interpret quantitative data, insights and information
- Respond to customer or stakeholder enquiries, provide researched advice and direction as required
- Contribute to the preparation of briefings, reports, notes and correspondence by applying knowledge of current legislation, policy, and related issues
- Assist with preparations for meetings and attend as required
- Liaise and collaborate within the division and across the organisation on project, programs, or initiatives, whilst maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
- Translate newly acquired knowledge and ideas from your academic studies into the workplace by actively contributing to the business group’s objectives
- Actively contribute to fostering a collaborative, engaged and solutions-oriented culture and operate with ASL values in mind
The role within the Commercial team also supports the preparation and delivery of key elements of ASL’s commercial designs and the tenders. Additionally, the role;
- Supports the planning and delivery of important aspects of ASL’s tenders, including assisting with commercial design work, preparing tender collateral and contributing to tender analysis
- Prepares written materials to support tender processes and help inform and educate internal and external stakeholders
- Undertakes commercial and technical analysis to support decision-making
- Engages with tender proponents, government partners and internal teams to deliver ASL commercial objectives
- Builds capability in governance, probity, risk and compliance

About You and the Role Requirements:
- A relevant Bachelor’s (or above) degree in Finance, Law, Engineering, Economics or similar, completed within the last 2 years and ability to apply this academic knowledge and concept to practical solutions
- Genuine interest in and some understanding of, the energy sector including its challenges and opportunities
- Interest in contributing to complex projects, commercial processes or policy work within the renewable energy, infrastructure or government sectors
- Rigorous, detail oriented and highly organised
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate technical data to, and interact with a range of stakeholders
- Have a positive attitude, like to finish things you start and prefer working with others
- Ability to collect, analyse and interpret quantitative data and information
- Actively participates in the design of new solutions and new ways of working
- Takes personal accountability for learning, and eagerly pursues new knowledge and experiences
