About the Team:
The People and Culture team works closely with teams across ASL to support the full employee experience. We provide practical, people focused advice and support across recruitment, learning and development, performance, change, compensation, employee relations, and culture. Our focus is on delivering a positive experience for our people, supported by clear systems, processes and resources, and helping our workforce grow, develop and succeed as the organisation continues to evolve.
Role Purpose:
The Graduate, People and Culture role provides structured, hands-on exposure across core Human Resources disciplines. The role supports the delivery of people initiatives while building foundational HR capability through rotations, project work, data analysis and stakeholder engagement. The position is designed to develop future HR practitioners who demonstrate strong professional character, build meaningful connections, and show commitment to organisational outcomes and continuous improvement. Based in Sydney, commencing in July 2026, the position will transition to the business on a permanent basis at the conclusion of the program, in December 2027 and will sit and rotate-only within the People and Culture division.
About the Role and Responsibilities:
As an ASL Graduate, your role has both common and targeted responsibilities specific to your business unit and studies specifically. This role is a flexible and adaptable supporting role, that contributes to ASL’s outcomes and deliverables, through a range of administrative activities and the application of recently acquired tertiary knowledge and skills.
Key responsibilities include;
- Support recruitment, onboarding and early career programs
- Assist with learning and leadership development initiatives
- Support performance and capability frameworks
- Contribute to HR reporting, analysis and insights
- Assist with HR policy interpretation and research
- Participate in HR projects and change initiatives
The role collaborates closely with a wide range of ASL, AEMO and external stakeholders, ASL staff members and provides a solid platform to learn the functions and processes of human resources activities. Activities include but are not limited to using several systems to action, manage, follow up and complete onboarding, offboarding and general people related requests and tasks, communicating with teams and ensuring diligence, accuracy and thoroughness throughout.
The position supports and gains exposure to, all areas of the team, preparing and administering a range of written communications and collateral, reviewing and responding to enquiries and requests and taking ownership of tasks that requires an unwavering level of accuracy, willingness and organisation. About You and the Role Requirements:
- A relevant tertiary degree in HR, psychology, business or a related discipline, completed within the last 2 years and ability to apply this academic knowledge and concepts to practical solutions
- Accurate, resourceful and not afraid to think on your feet and ask questions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly organised with attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Have a positive attitude, like to finish things you start and prefer working with others
