About host companies and internship tasks

CareerDC has an Australia-wide network of host companies used to host accounting interns. Some of the companies include: the accounting department of an Australian IT company, a local accounting business, a company of business consultants and tax agents and the accounting department of a security services company.

As another example, and depending on your host company, your internship could include any combination of the following types of experiences:

• Learning about checking log books and handling aspects of payroll tax.
• Assisting with personal tax return preparation.
• Learning about preparing capital gain tax schedules.
• Assisting with the preparation of financial reports including balance sheets, invoices and income statements.
• Learning about the bookkeeping process.
• Learning about compliance, including reporting, auditing and analysis.
• Experiencing working with bookkeeping software.
• Getting involved in preparing business activity statements and bank reconciliation.
• Learning about account maintenance and customer advice.

Program overview

The Accounting Internship Program includes:

• Resume updates and interview coaching
• Matching with suitable host companies
• Interview scheduling and placement support
• A tailored 12-week internship placement in accounting
• A certificate of completion

Note: A coordination fee applies and covers the full placement coordination service.
