Current university students in Australia

  • You need to complete an internship as part of your degree

New graduates and students without a placement requirement

  • You want Australian work experience to complement your engineering degree
  • You've recently graduated or your degree does not have an internship component
  • You may be able to apply for the program and combine your work experience placement with an accredited Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program

On Host Companies and Work Experience Tasks

Every 12-week work experience placement is matched to your academic background, internship needs, preferred location and availability. Example host companies include:

  • A company in asset management supporting industries with performance optimisation and sustainable practices
  • A steel manufacturer specialising in laser cutting and bending
  • An engineering company delivering a range of technical assessments

Your work experience placement tasks and learning experiences will depend on your host company but may include:

  • Mechanical systems performance evaluations
  • Lifecycle plans
  • Estimates and works orders for fabrication jobs
  • Liaising with subcontractors
  • Producing SolidWorks drawings
  • Supporting laboratory testing of whitegoods
  • Analysing energy efficiency
  • Preparing technical reports
