CareerDC charges a coordination fee for each internship program. The service includes a tailored CV update, host company matching, interview preparation, interview coordination and scheduling, unlimited interviews to achieve a placement, a work experience placement relevant to your studies, academic credit or an accredited Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course as relevant and a certificate of completion at the end of the experience.

Who can apply?

• University students in Australia
  This internship program is a good option if you want local, Australian work experience and academic credit. It is open to both domestic and international engineering students studying engineering in Australian universities or colleges.
• New graduates and students without an internship requirement
  If your course doesn't require an internship, or you've already completed your degree, you may still be able to take part by combining the internship with an accredited Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program.

On host companies and learning experiences

The 12-week placement is matched with your academic background, internship requirements, preferred location and availability. To give you some examples, the Mechanical Engineering internship host companies include:

• A provider of asset management solutions supporting industries with performance optimisation and sustainable practices
• An established manufacturer specialising in steel wire, fabrication, welding, laser cutting, and bending
• An engineering company delivering technical assessments such as airflow, climate, safety, and movement studies across aviation, energy, security, and building projects.

Your industry exposure, tasks and learning experiences will depend on your host company but may include:

• Assisting with performance evaluations of mechanical systems and creating lifecycle plans
• Preparing estimates and works orders for fabrication jobs, liaising with subcontractors and producing SolidWorks drawings
• Supporting laboratory testing of whitegoods, analysing energy efficiency and preparing technical reports for clients
