In order to meet the requirements of the Cadetship and ultimately be progress to the position of Survey Technician, successful completion of on-the-job training and tertiary studies is required.About the role:
- Provide assistance to Surveyors in conducting land surveys as a member of Council's Survey Section
- Learn and develop field and office activities, including topographic, engineering, cadastral, GNSS (GPS) and hydrographic surveys
- Perform survey duties as part of a survey team as directed by Council’s Surveyors
- Assist in the provision of surveying and land related data products
- Undertake the academic requirements of an Associate Degree in Surveying to become an associate surveyor

- Full-time position for up to 48 months, commencing January 2026
- Competitive starting salary from $51,580 to $75,449 per annum, plus 12% superannuation

We are seeking:
- Genuine interest in Surveying and a desire to build a long-term career in the industry
- Currently enrolled in your first year eligible to enrol into an Associate Degree in Surveying at the University of Southern Queensland.
- Finished Year 12 with solid literacy and numeracy skills (Grade C and above)
- Currently hold a Class C Driver's License
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card) – or willingness to obtain
- Physical and mobility capabilities necessary to carry out rigorous survey field work
- Motivated and committed to completing their degree while gaining hands-on experience through on-the-job training in a supportive team environment
- A team player who can work collaboratively with peers and communicate effectively
- Reliable and adaptable, with a strong work ethic and commitment to safety, quality and working in diverse environments
- Tech-savvy and problem solver with basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems, tools and software
