About the position:
30-06-2026- Oversee Greater Hume Council’s Financial Services team and function, ensuring compliance and effective service delivery.
- Lead strategic financial initiatives and enhance organisational sustainability.
- Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to implement Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) requirements and work on planning for long-term financial sustainability.
- Oversee Council's Grants function to maximise external funding opportunities.
- A dynamic and experienced financial leader who possesses both strategic vision and operational expertise.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or equivalent.
- Full membership, or eligibility for full membership, with CA ANZ or CPA Australia, including adherence to all ethical conduct and professional development standards.
- Extensive senior management experience managing a finance/accounting function in a complex organisational setting. Previous experience in a local government environment highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and comprehensive understanding of local government financial legislation, policies and processes.
- Advanced knowledge of budgeting, financial modelling and long-term financial planning (LTFP).
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on team development and continuous improvement practices.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in IT and financial management software.
- Current Class C Driver License.
