Software Developer – Early Stage Startup
AI Job Summary
About Us
We’re an early-stage startup born out of a Foley studio, where we create sound effects for film and television. With a passion for blending creativity and technology, we’re building tools that make the sound design process faster, smarter, and more creative.
We’re early, scrappy, and excited about where this can go! Bringing our Foley experience together with new technology to reimagine the future of sound design.
About the Project
Our current project explores how machine learning, computer vision, and signal processing can be applied to Foley. We’re developing innovative tools that support sound designers and artists by reducing repetitive tasks and giving them more time to focus on the creative side of storytelling.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a motivated graduate to join as a Software Developer (3–4 days per week). Based in Melbourne, you’ll be part of an early stage startup working directly alongside the founder, where your work will shape the next generation of sound design technology.
In this role, you’ll help tune, develop, and pipeline machine learning models for real world applications. You’ll work across both research and engineering tasks, gaining hands on experience and having a genuine impact from day one.
If you’re excited by the idea of solving challenging problems, learning fast, and growing your career in a startup environment, this role is for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Fine tuning a pre-existing pose detection model on a custom dataset
- Designing a custom signal filtering and analysis pipeline to extract insights from pose data
- Pipelining multiple models together to achieve high-quality outputs
- Collaborating directly with the founder to test, iterate, and improve solutions
Must-Have Skills
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with PyTorch (or TensorFlow, with preference for PyTorch)
- Knowledge of digital signal processing concepts
- Exposure to computer vision projects
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with C++
- Designing custom loss functions
- Tuning models for high output accuracy
- Familiarity with MMPose or similar frameworks
Who We’re Looking For
You’re a curious problem solver who loves working on technical challenges. You thrive in small, collaborative teams, and you’re eager to learn quickly in a startup environment. This is a role where you’ll have a big impact and the chance to grow alongside the company.
