Our Undergraduate Vacation Studentships are run over the Australian summer holidays and offer high achieving and promising undergraduate students the opportunity to collaborate with CSIRO researchers in our world class facilities.

The Commercial team provide tailored advice regarding licensing, Patenting, setting up various research-related agreements with external parties, review the terms of agreements provided by external parties, spin-outs and other commercialisation options. By linking world-class scientific developments with industry, Commercial can help take research from the laboratory to the market, creating real-world economic, environmental and society-wide value.

Project Title

Commercialisation Curation and Equity Portfolio Valuations

Project Description

Be involved in helping the investment function prepare commercialisation innovation business cases for funding.  Assist the Equity Portfolio team in assessing CSIRO's portfolio of companies for valuations and building case studies to showcase our success stories.

Project Duties/Tasks

  • Valuing our portfolio companies which involves doing due diligence and financial analysis.
  • Help contribute to building a pitchpack for commercialisation innovation fund related work.
  • Working with the Commercialisation team to deliver impact through commercialisation of CSIRO science.

To be considered you will need:

  • To be enrolled in an undergraduate degree at an Australian university.
  • Have completed 3 years (full-time equivalent) of an undergraduate course, however exceptional second-year students may be considered.
  • A strong academic record (credit average or higher).
  • An interest in pursuing a research career in science or technology, or a career in a related discipline.
  • The ability to undertake a full-time placement for 8-12 weeks over the university summer vacation period

    • the reasons why the research project/s you have selected are of interest to you and how your skills/knowledge meet the project requirements; and
    • an outline of your longer-term career aspirations and how this program will help you achieve them.
  • upload your current or most recent academic record in the ‘Cover Letter’ field;
  • in the ‘Education’ section select your university from the Educational Institute list;
  • in the ‘Job-Specific Information’ section select ‘Not Applicable’ for both Preference 1 and Preference 2; and enter your Grade Point Average (GPA) as per the University Admission Centre’s methodology.  If you have a WAM, please read the Methodology on this site and calculate a GPA using the formula provided.
