Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are promoted to ongoing positions within their ‘home’ unit.

Make a difference

Our grads do work that makes a real difference to Victorians’ lives. You’ll see the positive impact of your efforts – that’s an everyday experience when you’re writing policies that shape our state’s future, aiding people to rehabilitate as they progress through the community corrections system, or helping the department to thrive as a whole in one of our numerous support roles.

If you join DJR, your work will make Victoria a safer and more equitable place to live. In addition to working in an inclusive and supportive team environment, our employees also enjoy benefits such as:

  • a competitive salary
  • flexible working arrangements
  • career opportunities within the department and our agencies
  • access to ongoing professional development including structured learning and development opportunities.

How the program works

The department’s graduate program has three streams. When you apply, you can nominate a specific stream based on your preferred location, study discipline and career pathway.
