As a Paralegal in Blue Card Services, you’ll help assess applications under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000, ensuring that only suitable individuals are allowed to work with children.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity for graduates or early-career professionals to apply their legal and analytical skills in a high-impact public service role. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that safeguards Queensland’s children by assessing blue card applications involving criminal histories or other relevant information.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Assess applications with a focus on the best interests of children.
- Conduct risk assessments and prepare clear, evidence-based recommendations.
- Communicate with applicants and stakeholders to gather and document critical information.
- Provide legal and procedural advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage case files and contribute to a high-performing, inclusive team.
What We’re Looking For
- A degree in Law, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
- Strong ability to interpret legislation, especially the Working with Children Act.
- Excellent written communication and legal drafting skills.
- Analytical thinking and sound decision-making under pressure.
