About this role

As a Graduate Electrical Engineer at TMR, you’ll help design, deliver, and maintain electrical systems and intelligent transport across Queensland’s transport network. Your work will support safer, more efficient, and technologically advanced transport services.

Important information for Engineering graduates: engineering qualifications must be 4-Year Washington Accord accredited or have undergone assessment for accreditation through Engineers Australia. 

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Contribute to the design of traffic signals, road lighting, and Intelligent Transport System (ITS) infrastructure using TMR specifications and standards.
  • Support construction and maintenance of ITS and special infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with technical and safety requirements.
  • Assist with program support, including procurement, asset management (via Road Operations Asset Register), and coordination of project information.
  • Work with ICT systems, including ITS communications networks and server equipment.

Specialisations and development:

  • Electrical, electronics, and control systems engineering.
  • Traffic signal controller technology and intelligent transport systems.
  • Power, telecommunications, lighting, and transport technology integration.
  • Exposure to rail and maritime systems, including mechanical and electrical components.
  • Involvement in research and development to explore innovative technologies and materials.

Technical skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (4-year Washington Accord) completed within the last 3 years, or
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (4-year Washington Accord) and a relevant post-graduate qualification in Electrical Engineering completed within the last 12 months, or
  • If your Bachelor’s degree was completed at a University which was not part of the Washington Accord for any part of the period you studied, you will need to provide evidence from Engineering Australia that your skills and knowledge meet the same standard for your application to be considered.
