About this role
As a Graduate Structural Engineer at TMR, you will help manage transport structures like bridges and culverts. You’ll provide risk-based engineering advice, use digital tools to innovate, and work with others to plan and maintain these assets. Your work will cover the full asset lifecycle - from design and monitoring to maintenance and optimisation - while engaging with government, industry, and community groups
Important information for Engineering graduates: engineering qualifications must be 4-Year Washington Accord accredited or have undergone assessment for accreditation through Engineers Australia.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Assist in the planning, inspection, and maintenance of structural assets across Queensland’s road network.
- Contribute to digital transformation initiatives including Building Information Modelling integration, cloud-based systems, and interactive dashboards.
- Support structural investigations such as tunnel lining assessments, bridge monitoring, and material testing.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure structural solutions align with safety, sustainability, and operational goals.
- Participate in data-driven design and automation projects aligned with TMR’s Technology Plan for Data Systems Modernisation.
Specialisations and development:
- Specialise in any element of structural or civil engineering within TMR, including planning, design, maintenance, and asset management.
- Develop leadership capabilities alongside technical expertise as your career progresses.
- Engage with digital transformation initiatives that enhance engineering workflows and decision-making.
- Contribute to and learn from innovations such as:
- Data-driven design
- Automation tools and systems
- Digital twins for infrastructure modelling
- AI-enhanced workflows for structural analysis and asset optimisation

Technical skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor of Civil/Structural (4-year Washington Accord) completed within the last 3 years, or
- Bachelor of Civil or Structural Engineering and a relevant post-graduate qualification completed within the last 12 months, or
- If your Bachelor’s degree was completed at a University which was not part of the Washington Accord for any part of the period you studied, you will need to provide evidence from Engineering Australia that your skills and knowledge meet the same standard for your application to be considered.
