The Holcim Graduate Development Program- Accelerate!

In New Zealand, the 12-month Accelerate program will include 3 x four-month blocks made up of two blocks in the Cement business (operations and sales) and one in the Aggregates business; with locations in Hastings and Auckland.

The Holcim Graduate Development Program is an opportunity to experience and learn about the Holcim Australia business within your allocated business unit.  The program provides the development of personal, professional, technical and divisional-specific skills required as an operational employee and future leader within Holcim. 

Moving across various sites, you will experience different places, people and functions in real jobs working on real sites. The program will see you work across multiple locations and may require you to travel to some of our regional sites. 

The key aim of the program is to create operational leaders of the future.

Commencing in February 2024, our 12-month program consists of immersing graduates into one business unit and tailoring a development plan to prepare graduates for a successful career with Holcim

Upon completion of the development program, each of the graduates will secure a full-time opportunity in a role aligned to business needs and their interest areas.

Cement Business:

Our Cement business unit is focused on production and within your rotations you will gain insight into the operational, technical, business and project aspects of the business. You will gain onsite experience understanding terminal operations, demand planning, transport & logistics, commercial forecasting,  market dynamics , Credit and claim management and  understanding service standards.

Within New Zealand, our Cement placements are located in: Dunedin, Wellington, Lyttleton, and Depot Aggregates Business:

Our Aggregates business unit is focused on quarrying and within your rotations you will gain insight into the operational, technical, business and project aspects of the business. You will gain onsite experience understanding around crushing and screening, drill & blast and Depo activity and all load and haul operations.

Within New Zealand, our Aggregates placements are located in: Hastings & Auckland

To be eligible for our 2024 Graduate Program, you'll need to:

  • Be an New Zealand citizen or New Zealand permanent resident
  • Have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the last 2 years of program start date (e.g. 2022, 2023 or January 2024)
  • Be able to commence full time employment commencing February 2024
  • Have studied the relevant degree/discipline in (but not limited to); Civil, Electrical, Process or Mechanical Engineering, Science, Supply Chain/Logistics and/or Commerce.

Upon successful completion of the 12 month NZ Cement & Aggregates Graduate Development Program, below are the potential career opportunities on offer and not limited to:

Quarry Supervisor: This role provides the opportunity to lead and manage a quarry team to ensure that aggregates are produced both safely and sustainably.  This role involves working closely with the Area Operations Manager to achieve the production Volumes and product efficiency, that meets customer service requirements and also to engage with all quarry staff and drivers and provide strong leadership in the areas of health and safety, the environment, operations management, cost management and operational improvement.

Depot Supervisor: This role has the responsibility for supporting the Depot Manager to ensure the depot is appropriately staffed, maintained and controlled in a safe, productive and cost effective manner to meet the needs of the Company and effectively and efficiently schedule bulk and bagged dispatches from Wellington controlled depots and stores. This role will act as the backup for the Depot Manager.

Account Manager: This role will need to deliver the agreed sales targets and business goals within the allocated territory/accounts or segment through maintaining a structured contact plan that is continually tailored to establish and improve relationships with new and existing customers.
