About the opportunity

Over the 18 months, you will be supported by an Aboriginal mentor, leaders and colleagues who are committed to helping you develop professionally while making a positive contribution to NSW.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to work that supports  IPART's Aboriginal Outcomes and Impact Strategy  This strategy reflects IPART's commitment to improving outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities across New South Wales by strengthening the way Aboriginal perspectives, experiences and aspirations are considered in our regulatory, advisory and review work.

Working across a range of teams in, you may contribute to projects that examine how government policies, pricing decisions and regulatory frameworks impact Aboriginal people, communities and businesses. You will help undertake research and analysis, engage with stakeholders, review evidence and support the development of advice that promotes equitable and effective outcomes for Aboriginal communities.

You will also have opportunities to contribute to organisational initiatives that strengthen Aboriginal engagement and cultural capability across IPART. Through mentoring, professional development and exposure to a diverse range of policy and regulatory issues, you will build valuable skills while helping deliver outcomes that matter to Aboriginal communities and the broader people of NSW.

About you

We are seeking candidates who are enthusiastic team-players who enjoy problem solving, are goal-oriented and wanting to excel.

You are passionate about creating positive outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities and interested in contributing to policy, regulatory and advisory work that makes a difference.

You should also have a willingness to develop your professional capability, work collaboratively and build a diverse skill set to prepare for a successful career at IPART or in the NSW public sector more generally.

Eligibility Requirements:

• A tertiary qualification in Economics, Commerce, Business, Engineering, Science or Law or other relevant degrees.
• Completed or will complete your undergraduate or postgraduate degree within 2 years before starting work in February 2027.
• Available to commence employment on 1 February 2027.
• Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia. or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand passport.
• Evidence of Aboriginality. Aboriginality as defined by the Aboriginal Lands Right Act 1983 (NSW) is a person who:
  • Identifies as a person of Aboriginal descent
  • Presents documentation identifying their family’s Aboriginal descent
  • is accepted by their local Aboriginal community as a person of Aboriginal descent.
