About our graduate roles
As a graduate with the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) no two days will be the same. You’ll have exposure to both State and Local government operations and be given the opportunity to travel throughout Western Australia, allowing you to understand the roles each organisation plays within the greater Western Australian community.

The work that you undertake can influence future performance and forensic audits, while also improving transparency and accountability within the sector. You will have the opportunity to engage and interact with a range of stakeholders, from individual Western Australians through to the Premier and Parliament, developing your skills and experience over your journey.

If successful, you will be offered:

a 12 month contract with a starting salary of $72,896 per annum plus 10.5% superannuation
possibility of permanent appointment or extension at the end of the program
development opportunities.

Who are we looking for?
To be a part of our 2023 Graduate Program you’ll need:

to have recently completed an accounting degree and meet the CPA or CAANZ requirements for Associate Membership
availability to commence early February 2023

We’re looking for candidates with:

a willingness to learn and develop expertise
experience working collaboratively with team members and stakeholders, treating others with respect and courtesy
demonstrated ability to research, analyse and interpret information and report findings
an ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, verbally and in writing
a proven ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.

a cover letter (maximum two pages), answering the following questions:
- What interests you about working at the OAG and how does this fit with your career aspirations?
- Provide details of a group project where you utilised your communication, research and analysis skills to contribute to the final outcome. What was your role in the team? How did you apply your research and analysis skills? How did you communicate your findings?

Interviews are scheduled for October 2022 and will be conducted in our Perth CBD office. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by email to select an interview time. Unsuccessful candidates can obtain feedback at the end of the recruitment process. Aptitude testing will be undertaken as part of the selection process.

About the Office
The Office of the Auditor General undertakes unique and important work, auditing the Western Australian public sector.

Our financial audit team is responsible for the annual financial audits of over 300 State and local government entities. The team also conducts focus area audits which assess a particular business practice, procedure or control, such as credit card controls and timely payments of suppliers.

In addition to these audits, we examine and analyse the effectiveness of public sector programs, compliance with legislation and standards, conduct targeted forensic audits using data analytics and much more.
