Making a difference in your role

The RaboResearch team for Australia and New Zealand has an opportunity for you to make a difference using your analytical and communication skills and knowledge of the food and agribusiness sector. 

We are looking for an Associate Analyst to analyse the local and global markets for animal protein, especially sheep meat and wool, to support the bank and its rural and corporate clients with reports and presentations in their short- and long-term strategic decision making. Preferably based in Sydney, the Analyst will be required to:

  • Undertake high quality market research and industry analysis of the animal protein sector, especially sheep and wool, for use by both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in the global animal protein sector team of RaboResearch and actively contribute to the delivery of global research and analysis.
  • Prepare quality research publications including reports, podcasts and videos that will assist rural and corporate clients, especially in Oceania.
  • Be the expert for assigned research areas by delivering presentations at seminars, client functions, industry conferences, field days, and corporate meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with Rabobank’s Australian and global banking team to identify commercial opportunities within the target sectors for Rabobank in rural and corporate banking.
  • Become a respected knowledge provider by engaging in media commentary for papers, journals, radio, TV, and social media on key issues relating to the target sectors. 
  • Provide research input into credit and risk policies and proposals covering the target sectors and provide presentations to management and colleagues as required.

For the role, you will need:

  • An inquisitive mind,
  • An understanding of the Australian and global sheep sector and/or agricultural systems and markets, 
  • 1-2 years experience or strong interest in analysing commodity markets and/or livestock industries,
  • Capacity to develop knowledge on, and analyse animal protein and wool sectors, 
  • Willingness to engage collaboratively with local and global colleagues to deliver impactful insights to our clients,
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills,
  • To work with large sets of data and to derive clear messages based on analysis,
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills along with well-developed written and verbal communication skills to tell the messages of your research in an interesting storyline, and
  • Willingness to travel largely within Australia to engage with clients and prospects
  • Good presentation and storytelling capabilities
