About the Role
Join Sportsbet’s Risk & Pricing Data Science team and kick-start your career in a collaborative, innovative environment. As a Graduate Data Scientist, you’ll work on real-world projects that shape betting experiences and manage risk using tools like Python, Spark, R, and Databricks.
You’ll gain hands-on experience across the full data science lifecycle, from model design to deployment while exploring emerging technologies like AI. Supported by experienced mentors, you’ll rotate through at least two teams, building technical and commercial skills that set the foundation for a successful data science career.
As part of our graduate program, you’ll rotate through at least two different delivery teams, giving you exposure to diverse challenges and development practices across the business.
The two key areas of the role include:
Build Impactful Models
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure models align with strategic objectives.
- Help design, build, deploy, and maintain models to solve a variety of business challenges.
- Communicate complex technical insights clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Present your work in internal forums, building confidence and visibility across the business.
Technical & Process Excellence
- Apply MLOps best practices to ensure models are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
- Contribute to high-quality code through rigorous standards in evaluation, documentation, and testing.
- Participate in code reviews, workshops, and training sessions to build your technical skill set and stay up to date with industry best practices.
- Collaborate on solution design and prepare technical documentation to support ongoing development and knowledge sharing.
About You
You're a recent or soon-to-be graduate who’s passionate about data science and love using numbers to solve real-world problems. You bring curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong desire to keep learning in a fast-paced, agile environment. You're comfortable with ambiguity, enjoy thinking abstractly, and thrive on tackling challenges that don’t always have clear-cut answers.
You’re a strong communicator—able to explain technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively across teams. You pay close attention to detail and take pride in delivering high-quality work.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- A strong interest in data science, machine learning, and quantitative problem-solving.
- A proactive mindset and a willingness to learn and adapt quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Curiosity, creativity, and a passion for solving complex problems.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and undefined challenges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Australian or New Zealand Citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident (No sponsorship available)
- Final-year student or recent graduate within the past two years (2024, 2025 or January 2026) of a degree in in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
- Internship or project experience in web or mobile development is a plus, but not required
- Willing to undergo required checks like police check and global sanctions check
