Our Summer Intern Program

Join our paid 10-week program. It’s a great way to explore a career with Westpac Group and get a taste of what it’s like to work with us. Designed so that you get a real insight into the diverse opportunities at Westpac Group – the summer intern program gives you what you need to make an informed career decision.

The program runs from early December to February for 10 weeks and gives you the opportunity to be considered for the graduate program.

You can apply if you’re in the second last (penultimate) year of your degree. You also need to be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident when you apply.

Our Corporate & Institutional Banking Program 

What we do for our customers
CIB, which sits within Westpac’s Institutional Bank, focuses on understanding the needs of our institutional and government clients to support them through their lifecycle, whether that be to provide financing and solutions for growth opportunities, to assist in navigating through times of change, or simply just to support their financial wellbeing.

Rotation areas
A ten-week rotation through an industry team (Property, Consumer & Industrials, Financial Institutions/Public Sector/Health, Energy Infrastructure & Resources) with exposure to product teams such as Syndications & Sustainable Finance, Project Finance, Structured Finance, Trade Finance, Asset Finance and Acquisition & Leverage Finance.

Future career opportunities
Fast-track your career progression into the Graduate Program and any of the following roles within the CIB team:

  • Relationship      Coverage
  • Debt      Products
  • Chief      Operating Office

Students from all disciplines are welcome to apply for the CIB Summer Intern Program. At Westpac Group, we recognise that a finance/analytical background is preferred but not necessary to join our team. If you have the intellectual curiosity and drive to learn, we have the training infrastructure to foster and develop the skills you need.
