2024/25 Summer Vacation Program - Regional NSW & QLD

About the Program  

During your time in the Whitehaven Coal Vacation Program, you’ll receive coaching and guidance from a senior leader while gaining practical skills and training from on-the-job learning experiences.

Our Summer Vacation Program will run for 6 to 12 weeks, depending on your availability, with intakes commencing in November 2024 and late January 2025. 

The Summer Vacation Program is residentially based in the Gunnedah and Narrabri regions in NSW and our Blackwater and Daunia sites in QLD.

We are seeking applications across three streams:

1. Engineering Stream: Disciplines we are seeking in the Engineering space include: Mining, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Process, Mine Geotechnical, Civil, Metallurgy / Minerals Processing.
2. Health, Safety & Environment Stream: Disciplines for the Health & Safety Stream include but are not limited to: Safety, Health, Occupational Hygiene, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Environmental Engineering.
3. Geo Stream: Disciplines for the Geo stream exclusively include: Earth Science / Geology (Honours / Masters), Spatial Science (Surveying), Geotechnical Engineering (Masters), Mine Geomechanics (Masters).

What You’ll bring

We are looking for students who are adaptable, keen to learn, resilient and have an interest in mining. Ideally, you will be a second, third or final/penultimate student.
