As Australia’s biggest graduate jobs site, we feature over 200 major graduate employers to an audience of 150,000 registered graduates each year.
This gives us a rich, detailed dataset from which to develop rankings for the top graduate employers for each capital city and each discipline based on applications made through our website. This data was anonymised prior to analysis.
Melbourne's Top 25 employers
Here’s Melbourne's Top 25 employers ranked by the applications made by Melbourne based graduates in 2014. To check out the Top 25 employers for each of the other capital cities, and for each discipline e.g. Arts, Commerce, Engineering and more check out the interactive.
More applications were recorded for Melbourne based positions than that of any other capital city, making it the most popular graduate destination in Australia.
KPMG, with its strong employer brand, alignment to popular areas of study such as Accounting, IT and Consulting, willingness to consider talented graduates from diverse fields of study and large intake of 310 in 2014 was the top graduate program for Melbourne based graduates.
Unsurprisingly, employers headquartered or with a significant office presence in Melbourne dominated the rankings. Organisations such as Coles, Australia Post and National Australia Bank that were headquartered in Melbourne ranked significantly higher than they did for other capital cities.
The top industries tended to mirror most of the other capital cities, with the vast majority of the 25 operating in the professional services, financial services, fast moving consumer goods and engineering. As was the case in Sydney, there are very few government employers.
