About the Retail Intern Program
Led by Pedro Rodeia, the Australia Retail division is instrumental in supporting our customers’ financial wellbeing.
Australia Retail supports ANZ’s largest market, with approximately 15,000 employees serving five million Retail customers across Australia. The division includes ANZ’s Retail banking propositions in Australia, including:
- Customer Engagement: Marketing & Digital
- Customer Proposition
- Personal Channels
- Retail Non- Financial Risk
- Digital
- Strategy & Execution
- Data and Analytics
- Home Loans
- Retail Products.
We also support ANZ’s digital platforms, including mobile and online banking solutions.
What to expect in your 8-week Australia Retail Internship?
As a Retail intern, you will gain hands-on experience across one or more of our Retail portfolios. You will be supported with training, mentorship, and development opportunities to help you explore your potential and decide if ANZ is the right fit for your future.
At the end of the internship, you’ll have the opportunity for an early offer into our graduate program the following year.
The program may have you working across the following Retail portfolios:
Customer Proposition
- Shapes how ANZ connects with retail customers across the lifecycle.
- Defines customer strategy, segmentation and customer value propositions (CVPs).
- Drives consistent delivery across channels to lift satisfaction, engagement and growth.
Personal Channels
- Delivers customer experiences across branch, phone, online and operational support.
- Brings together Branch, Proprietary Lending, the Customer Engagement Hub and Service Delivery.
- Supports customers and staff, improving processes for safe, efficient service.
Retail Non-Financial Risk
- Leads non-financial risk management across retail banking.
- Provides remediation, complaints and events management, NFR operations and ASIC matters support.
- Embeds accountability and strengthens customer and regulatory outcomes through strong controls.
Digital
- Shapes and delivers ANZ’s digital banking experience and platforms.
- Leads digital strategy and delivery, design and content, activation and commercialisation, and identity and verification.
- Enables one consistent experience through the Single Customer Front End, supporting Suncorp Bank customer migration.
Strategy and Execution
- Shapes retail direction and turns priorities into measurable outcomes.
- Brings together Retail Strategy, Retail Change, Chief of Staff support, and Safe and Resilient.
- Ensures initiatives are well planned, governed and aligned to enterprise goals.
Data and Analytics
- Enables smarter, data-driven decisions across retail.
- Delivers data management, analytics and insights, and AI and machine learning.
- Builds trusted data foundations for reporting and insights to improve customer and business outcomes.
Home Loans
- Manages and grows ANZ’s home lending business across all distribution channels.
- Leads product management, broker and mobile distribution, and product risk and governance.
- Delivers competitive, customer-focused loans while meeting regulatory obligations and managing risk.
Retail Products
- Owns retail product strategy and experience (excluding Home Loans).
- Holds end-to-end accountability for designing, managing and improving core retail products.
- Improves customer and business outcomes across Deposits and Payments, Cards and Personal Lending, and Wealth and Insurance.
