An exciting opportunity currently exists for enthusiastic and highly motivated nurses to undertake a Graduate Certificate in Nursing (Perioperative Practices) in Operating Suites, Austin.
Austin Operating Suites is a dynamic suite with 11 operating rooms, a procedure room, fluoroscopy room and endoscopy rooms. Specialities covered but not limited to are: Cardiac, Thoracic, Neurosurgery, Liver transplantation, Orthopaedics, Urology General and upper Gastrointestinal, Vascular and Plastics.
You will be employed full time (1.0 EFT) in the Austin Operating Suites for the duration of the Graduate Certificate. There are two streams- Perianaesthesia stream and Intraoperative stream. On completion of the post graduate course, ongoing employment within Austin Health is offered.
Austin Health works in collaboration with La Trobe University to deliver the Graduate Certificate in Nursing (Perioperative Practices) which is articulated into the Master of Nursing. The Graduate Certificate consists of subjects specific to Perioperative nursing.
At Austin Health we follow a best practice clinical learning environment philosophy and as such deliver education using contemporary teaching modalities with an emphasis on experiential learning with a particular focus on bedside teaching and learning. Subjects are assessed from both theoretical and clinical perspectives. The Graduate Certificate program will be undertaken over a 12-month period.
Registered Nurse registered with NMBA
At least 2 years acute clinical experience post nursing registration
- Knowledge of legal/ethical requirements and professional standards
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- A sound understanding of information technology including clinical systems, applications relevant to the rostering and risk management reporting or as required for the role and/or department.
