AI Job Summary
Graduate Program – Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Advisory
About BDO
At BDO Australia, our why is ‘empowering people, realising possibilities’. One way we bring this to life is by hiring and developing exceptional talent, to deliver on our wide array of audit, tax and advisory services.
About the Role
Join our Graduate Program as a Graduate Consultant within our CFO Advisory team, starting January 2027.
Our CFO Advisory team works alongside CFOs, finance leaders, executives and government organisations to help them improve financial performance, strengthen reporting, implement change and make better business decisions.
Combining accounting, finance and consulting, the team supports a diverse range of projects including finance transformation, financial reporting, systems implementation, strategic planning and major infrastructure initiatives.
Why Choose CFO Advisory?
If you're interested in both accounting and consulting, CFO Advisory offers the opportunity to develop skills across both disciplines.
Rather than focusing solely on compliance or audit, you'll work on projects that help organisations improve the way their finance functions operate, produce meaningful insights and support decision-making.
One of the things that makes CFO Advisory unique is the variety of work you'll be exposed to.
You could find yourself helping:
- An organisation improve its financial reporting processes
- A CFO implement new finance systems and technology
- A major infrastructure project meet its financial reporting commitments
- An organisation undertake a complex merger or transaction
- A finance team navigate change and transformation initiatives
Because finance sits at the centre of every organisation, CFO Advisory professionals often work closely with senior decision-makers and play a key role in helping organisations improve performance and achieve their strategic objectives.
This variety means you'll develop strong technical accounting and finance skills while gaining exposure to consulting, transformation and business strategy.
What You'll Do
As a CFO Advisory Graduate, you can expect to:
- Support finance transformation and improvement projects
- Prepare financial statements and financial reports
- Assist with finance system selection and implementation initiatives
- Develop management and project reporting solutions
- Support financial planning, forecasting and analysis activities
- Work alongside client finance teams on a variety of engagements
- Assist with research, analysis and presentation of client recommendations
No two projects are the same, providing exposure to a broad range of industries, organisations and business challenges.
What you’ll get
- 12-month learning and development program
- Support and guidance from your buddy and manager
- Service line specific learning and development, aligned to clear career pathways
- Social activities with your early careers’ cohort, and the wider firm
- Benefits including free breakfast, healthy snacks and dress for your day
