We are looking for:

Byron Shire Council is currently seeking a Development Engineer (Graduates are encouraged to apply). 

If a graduate, this role is a great opportunity to undertake development application assessments relating to engineering matters and to assist Development Engineers to provide specialist advice to development control in accordance with legislation, local environmental plans, development control plans and policies aligned with Council’s and the community’s priorities.

If an experienced engineer, this role is an opportunity to provide specialist engineering input to development control in accordance with legislation, local environmental plans, development control plans and policies aligned with Council’s and the community’s priorities.

About you:

Graduates: 

  • Degree in Civil Engineering completed in the past 12 months, or currently in the final year of study.
  • Demonstrated interest and understanding of Civil Engineering and desire to learn.

Experienced Engineers:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, or a related discipline, and equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of planning and development, and associated infrastructure requirements.
  • An understanding of all relevant legislation including the Roads Act, Local Government Act, Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, State Environmental Planning Polices, and associated regulations.

We offer: 

  • A 12 month term contract (parental leave backfill) from May 2023 until May 2024 (35 hours per week)
  • Flexible working arrangements (work from home option up to 2 days per week post onboarding can be negotiated)
  • Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary for Graduates in the range of $1,211.50 to $1,403.70 per 35 hour week (dependent upon skills and experience) and for Non-Graduates a salary in the range of $1,449.90 to $1,679.93 (dependent upon skills and experience).

Location:

This position is based at Mullumbimby however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
