About the role The City is looking for an Environmental Health professional of any level to join our team! This role will be reporting to the Team Leader Public Health and Environment and will play a key role assisting with the development, review and implementation of strategies and policies. The Environmental Health Officer will contribute and support the community by ensuring that all public health and environment legislation are followed. This role will be collaborating with a friendly and inclusive team to undertake the customer focused delivery of public health and environmental management regulation and compliance functions. The ideal candidate will have an understanding or knowledge of contemporary and emerging environmental health issues including Local Government Act, Food Act, Public Health Act and other related legislation. Responsibilities of this role include:

• Public health programs including food businesses, skin penetration premises, public pools, legionella control.
• Environmental management including underground petroleum storage systems, contaminated land and noise, air, land and water pollution.
• Assessment and determination of applications including caravan parks and mobile food vendors and on-site sewage management systems.
• Development application referral assessment.
• Complaint investigations and compliance response consistent with City's Compliance and Enforcement Policy and relevant public health and environment legislation.

• $92,000 + Superannuation
• Guaranteed 6.5% award increase on base salary delivered incrementally across 2024 / 2025.
• Permanent Full Time 35 hours per week
• Coffs Coast Based

• Scope for performance-based salary increase

Essentials Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• National Construction Induction Certification (Whitecard)
• Class C Driver's Licence.

Desirable

• Experience in undertaking environmental health related inspections to assess compliance with applicable legislation e.g. food safety, skin penetration, public pools.
