The City Projects team is a multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for delivering Council’s City Projects program on time, on budget and to a high standard. We are looking for a talented engineer with good communication skills to join our team to deliver the specialist engineering design projects and to assist the team during construction with inspections and certification requirements.   About the Role The primary purpose of this role is to provide project design and certification services for Council’s infrastructure projects allocated to the City Projects team to meet Operational plan outcomes and objectives. The role is responsible for all aspects of project design delivery including project planning, feasibility assessment, brief development, conceptualisation, detailed design and preparation of tender documentation for Councils projects and programs, of varying complexity, to deliver sustainable outcomes of the community. You can also expect to;
  • Work closely with the construction team in providing engineering guidance and inspections during construction.
  • Take responsibility for, and deliver the design and construction of projects and programs as directed.
  • Provision of professional expert engineering advice to the organisation and liaison with clients.
  • Engage with stakeholders and external providers and consultants to develop quality solutions to the agreed project scope, budgets, timelines and deliverables.
  • Investigate, analyse and prepare technical reports for projects, issues and risks as required.
About You We are looking for an industrious individual with the following: Essential
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent) which satisfies eligibility requirements for professional membership of Engineers Australia or equivalent professional association.
  • Current Driver’s License Class C.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing consultants with the engineering field.
  • Working knowledge of design criteria and standards such as AS2890, Ausroads and Total Station Survey
  • Experience in documentation in AutoCAD, CivilCAD.
  • A Bachelor Degree in Structural Engineering or structural engineering knowledge and experience in a Local Government environment will be highly regarded.
