Your Opportunity

The role of Survey and Design Officer is an integral part of our team and supports the commitment we make to our community in providing efficient, responsive, open and accessible service to them.

Key responsibilities of the role include;

  • Provide accurate engineering surveys for project investigation and design in relation to the construction and maintenance of Council’s road works, sewerage and potable water network, stormwater drainage, and open space and recreational assets.
  • Investigate and negotiate land disposal and acquisition.
  • Assist with management of Council’s GIS data.

More specifically, your key day-to-day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Liaise with designers pre- and post- field work.
  • Carry out engineering survey fieldwork and reduce data using CAD software.
  • Design of minor works to relevant standards using CAD software.
  • Set-outs of designs for construction purposes.
  • Conduct Work-as-executed surveys of Council works.
  • Photocopying and plan printing, compile plans.
  • Use and care of survey equipment and associated software, including localisation and arranging calibration.
  • Assist in process to acquire and dispose of land for infrastructure purposes.
  • Research land status and provide technical advice regarding land and property issues for customers.
  • Respond to enquiries from State Government departments regarding Crown land.
  • Provide advise to internal stakeholders on land and property aspects of Native Title processes.
  • Provide quality administration support as required.
  • Quality assurance of GIS data relating to Infrastructure assets.
  • Locate and attribute existing assets.
  • Map and attribute assets from work-as-executed drawings.
  • Extract GIS data for reporting purposes.

Our next Survey and Land Property Officer

To be successful you will have;

  • Bachelor of Surveying, Bachelor of Technology, Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, or Cert IV Geographic Information Systems, or demonstrated willingness to attain through external studies.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Information Technology to intermediate level.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess situations and contribute to decision making.
  • Understanding of and commitment to OHS, Risk Management and Equal Employment Opportunity Principles.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability and continued commitment to work according to Councils' policies and Code of Conduct, with or without supervision.
  • Current valid NSW Class C Drivers Licence (ongoing employment is conditional on maintaining this Licence).
  • Good level of physical fitness.
