Your Role

Kickstart your career as a External Dispute Resolution Specialist with IAG! This role is perfect for launching your legal career and gaining hands-on experience in dispute resolution.

You’ll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence. In this role, you’ll play a key part in guiding customers and stakeholders toward fair and balanced resolutions, ensuring great outcome. We provide you with all the tools and training you need to thrive in this role from day one. This is a Max-Term Contract role until 30 June 2026, and we welcome applicants from all major cities in Australia. We offer flexible working arrangements with a mix of work from home and the office.  

 

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Applying legal knowledge to interpret insurance policies and resolve disputes, preparing correspondence, complaints outcome letters and dispute submissions to defend matters in the AFCA process
  • Engaging in negotiations to resolve complaints with our customers in a fair and efficient manner, ensuring a thoughtful resolution process adherence to relevant laws and regulations
  • Engaging with customers and stakeholders, providing clear guidance and support. Assessing complaints carefully, making well-reasoned decisions, and communicating outcomes with empathy
  • Build relationship with a wide range of stakeholders and collaborating with a knowledgeable and supportive team to share insights and continuously improve the way we help our customers
  • Gaining relevant real-world experience that allows you to utilise your legal knowledge with opportunities for career advancement

 

What We’re Looking For 

  • A foundational understanding or exposure to concepts like dispute resolution, legal principles, or insurance contracts – don’t worry if you haven’t worked in these areas yet, a willingness to learn is key!
  • A Law Degree and/or mediation qualification or experience is a bonus
  • A genuine focus on helping people, paired with strong communication skills, an ability to think critically, and creative problem solving to work through challenges
  • Confidence in listening attentively and expressing your thoughts clearly, even when things get busy or complicated
  • A knack for staying organised and managing your time effectively, balancing tasks to deliver results in a dynamic environment.
