 Introduction:
Technology sales at IBM is evolving its way of working to break beyond boundaries with innovative approaches. Preferring to 'show' vs. 'tell' we’re looking for graduates who want to combine their deep technical education with the people skills needed to co-create with customers, partners, and colleagues - face-to-face, on solutions to our clients’ most complex business challenges.

In a world where technology moves at speed, it's essential that we stay ahead of the curve to provide tailored solutions that meet our clients' needs. It's not enough for us to have the technical expertise. We need to be great with people, too. To empathise. To understand. To collaborate on technical solutions that will improve lives all over the world.

Excellent on-boarding and an industry leading learning culture will set you up for positive impact and success, whilst ongoing development will continually advance your career. Our sales environment is collaborative and experiential. Part of a team, you'll be surrounded by bright minds and keen co-creators – always willing to help and be helped – as you apply passion to work that will compel our clients to invest in IBM's products, services, and people.

IBM is proud to be included in the Ethisphere World’s Most Ethical Companies list (5th year running), as well as named #3 in Forbes 2022 World’s Best Employers list, based on our employees’ recommendations, our economic footprint, talent development, gender equality and social  responsibility. IBM Australia is also delighted to be part of GradConnection’s Top 20 Graduate Employers for 2022.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

Developing trusting relationships, you’ll work with clients to shape the future of their technology landscape. As we help you combine your technical education with consultative sales best practices, you will accelerate enterprises’ success by providing award winning solutions across Data & AI.

Within IBM Technology Sales we have multiple skills domains: as a Technology Sales Graduate, this role will align you to the Data & AI domain, including our Watsonx Software, and will commence April 2024 in Auckland.

We're passionate about success. If this role is right for you, then your achievements will mean that your career is thriving, and your clients are winning. To help ensure this outcome, a 'day-in-the life' of this role may include, but not be limited to…

  • Learning and using solution-selling techniques to identify and engage decision makers and influencers, qualify business opportunities, and respond to clients' needs.
  • Managing a dedicated client set and defining, confirming, and communicating the differentiated value of IBM's technology at both the technical and business level.
  • Steering the entire sales process and ensuring delivery against KPIs, with a strong emphasis on new business sales, whilst expanding existing accounts.
  • Collaborating with the broader IBM sales ecosystem, from Marketing to Sales and technical colleagues, to IBM Business Partners, to build sales campaigns and incremental pipeline.

Required Professional and Technical Expertise:

  • You will have completed your tertiary studies by March 2024 OR have graduated from an Australian or New Zealand University no earlier than 2022.
  • You studied a technical degree i.e., Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or an equivalent subject.
  • You will have excellent communication and presentation skills that are equally engaging, compelling, and influential.
  • You have a genuine interest (or experience) in the Data and AI field.

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise:

  • 1 – 2 years of software sales experience with demonstrable examples of contributing to the solving of clients’ problems.
  • Hands-on exposure to real-world application of computer science, information systems, or engineering concepts.
  • An understanding of Watsonx products.

IBM welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds. If you require accommodations or adjustments, we encourage you to make us aware so that we can support you through your application process.

Our process includes Talent Acquisition reviewing applications, then shortlisting candidates to complete the interview process. It is helpful if you upload your CV, Academic Transcript (unofficial is acceptable) and Right-To-Work documents (Australian Passport or Birth Certificate/Photo ID).
