About Maple-Brown Abbott (MBA)

Maple-Brown Abbott has significantly evolved since our origins nearly 40 years ago across investment styles, asset classes, geographies and client types. Today we are a boutique of boutiques, focusing on active management of differentiated listed equity strategies. As one of the earliest Australian managers to sign up to the UN PRI, we have a long history of deep ESG integration which is core to each of our strategies.

We are privately owned with around 60 staff in Sydney and over A$10 billion in assets under management as at 31 March 2022.

Maple-Brown Abbott’s Technology internship program

Maple-Brown Abbott’s paid internship is a three-month program on offer for a candidate who is in their penultimate year of studies. There is also a possibility for the engagement to be extended for another three months. Our intern will be given the opportunity to work alongside technology specialists and support our information technology team on various projects.

Who should apply?

We are looking for a university student who is in the penultimate year of their undergraduate degree and is studying a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or other Technology degrees. Other degrees will also be considered. Candidates should have a proven track record of strong academic results and show a keen interest in IT programming and financial markets. Candidates must also hold Australian citizenship.

What are we looking for?

Our chosen candidate is an analytical thinker, who is not afraid to take on a challenge. They are eager to learn more about our business, financial system programming, website design and the industry more generally. In addition, they should possess strong communication skills (both verbal and written), be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and have strong attention to detail.

Where will you be working?

Sydney CBD, Australia

How will it work?

This internship is initially a paid, three-month program but may be extended to six months if both parties agree. It is not a permanent position. Our program will take place during the winter university break. During this time our candidate will work two to three days a week in our offices. This role will include financial system programming, website programming and IT infrastructure support.

How do you apply?
