During the 2-year Graduate Program, you will participate in a series of virtual workshops, social networking activities, technical training from NDY’s technical experts, potential discipline rotations, and the opportunity to connect with senior leaders in the business. Let’s not forget our in-person Graduate Development Program that takes place annually in Melbourne where all NDY graduates get together to learn, connect, and network with each other and the wider business.

About the role:

As a graduate in the Electrical stream, you work under the guidance of our experienced engineers in developing detailed electrical engineering designs in various market sectors such as transport infrastructure like train stations, commercial property like retail centres, schools or universities, high-rise buildings, and precincts, or even mission critical facilities like data centres.

Each market sector leans on different requirements and has an emphasis on the use of creative and efficient design solutions. You will have the chance to work on a variety of projects with different clients. Through this journey, you will be supporting and collaborating with other like-minded individuals to provide innovative solutions through the design process.

You will work closely with your team to gain experience in various design solutions such as determining power requirements of a development to detail electrical infrastructure. You will get exposure to modelling of power distribution, calculation, and selection of cabling & switchgear as well as modelling of layouts in a 3-dimensional space. You will also experience the vision and aspiration of a project through lighting and produce lighting models to assess the illuminance levels and provide input in luminaire selections and control philosophies. 

You will be challenged along the way to create a design that achieves a client’s vision and needs, is compliant with various standards and codes, reaches sustainability targets and meets budget, quality and time parameters. Seeing a look of satisfaction on the clients face at handover is one of the most rewarding aspects of the role. You may not have all the answers at first, but we will always help you find the way.

How to join?

1. Click the button below and complete the application form. You'll need to include your academic achievement, personal information, career motivation, employment history, extenuating circumstances, language skills, extra-curricular activities and interests. We ask for this extra detail because we're not just looking for great engineers, we're looking of great people. 
2. If you're shortlisted you will be invited to the cognitive ability assessments. These are are designed to test your verbal, numerical, and logical reasoning skills. 
3. Once you get past the cognitive ability test we ask you to undertake a behavioral assessment. This will help us to understand your work style preferences and areas for development.
4. If you are shortlisted after the behavioral assessment we'll invite you to a video interview where you will have the opportunity to tell us a bit more about yourself.
5. This is the final step in this stage of the recruitment process. If you're shortlisted, you will be invited to an assessment centre session.
6. Assessment Centre and Interviews: Graduates progressing to this stage will be invited to attend a virtual assessment centre. The virtual assessment centre will consist of a series of group activities and individual activities where members of the NDY team will assess performance.
7. Face to Face meet & greet is the final stage of our process is to invite you into our offices to show you around, introduce you to our teams and have a sit-down meet & greet to ensure your career aspirations and interests align with NDY’s Grad Program. 

Offer Stage:

You will receive a call from our Graduate Manager to inform you of the outcome.

Before applying for the program, please ensure you meet our eligibility requirements. You must be:  

• An Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, New Zealand Citizen, or New Zealand Permanent Resident at the time of submitting this application
• You must have completed your undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the last three years of the program start date (ie 2021, 2022, 2023, or January 2024)
• You must be eligible to commence full-time employment in February 2024
• You must be willing to relocate to the role location you are applying to
• Have a credit or above GPA
