2022/2023 Vacation Student Program - Civil, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering

As a Vacation Student at the Public Transport Authority (PTA), you will participate in providing the most efficient, clean, safe and world-class public transport services and solutions. Public transport is vital for our continued success and growth through our many projects including METRONET to meet the public’s needs and expectations.  Moving millions of people needs the skill and commitment of a talented workforce. As a Vacation Student, you will work alongside the people responsible for delivering our world class public transport system. 
Consistently voted as one of the top intern programs in Australia since 2018 (AAGE), our Vacation Student Program offers participants the opportunity to work with leading-edge technology and modern systems. The twelve-week program will run from Monday 21 November 2022 to Friday 17 February 2023. Students will be assigned a workplace supervisor and will complete meaningful work during their placement enabling them to make an active contribution to the PTA.  They will also be part of a networking group which also connects them with a current / previous PTA Graduate.

How to Apply

To apply for the 2022/23 Vacation Student Program, applicants must be studying towards a Bachelor Degree of Engineering (or equivalent) in the relevant discipline (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) as described in the JDF. Please note: Preference will be given to students currently in their penultimate year of study.

To be considered for these positions, please submit the following:

  • A current CV including two work-related references;
  • A copy of your recent academic transcript for all relevant qualifications (used to verify your WAM);
  • A written application addressing the following essential work related requirements as per the Job Description Form (JDF) in no more than two (2) pages:
    1. Communication and Interpersonal
    2. Conceptual, Analytical and Problem Solving
    3. Personal Attributes
  • A completed Integrity and Qualification Consent Form (attached) as all PTA positions are subject to ongoing integrity screening.
