Workforce Tax Trainee

AI Job Summary

About Us

In Workforce Tax, you'll use your skills in accounting and finance to combine specialist tax and analytical skills with a focus on people matters. Our team works across various areas, including fringe benefits tax (FBT), payroll tax, employee share schemes (ESS), payroll/wage compliance and reward strategies.

You'll work with clients to ensure they meet their employment obligations while liaising with the ATO, state regulators and Fair Work. By following an end-to-end approach across design, implementation and ongoing support, you'll help companies reward and incentivise their workforce and manage the tax risks and on-costs associated with paying their employees.

You will work with PwC organisational strategists, HR practitioners, and regulatory, tax, technology and employment specialists to help our clients improve organisational performance, deliver sustained outcomes and unleash the potential of their people.

What is the Trainee Program?

As a Trainee, you'll embark on a two-year journey of combined work and study with PwC. You'll join us four (4) days a week (on a full-time salary!) while you study part-time for two (2) years. You'll then take a break from full-time work to complete your degree!

Balance is important. That's why you'll receive one (1) day of paid study while you work four days a week! This means you’ll receive a full-time salary while you study! As a trainee, you’ll combine your university studies with work experience to build the perfect foundation for your career, all while receiving professional and financial support in a full-time paid role.

About the Opportunity
In the Workforce Tax team, you’ll find yourself in a culture that values wellbeing and working together. You’ll solve problems like incentive creation for workforces or managing tax risks for payroll. You'll use your skills in problem-solving, data analytics and visualisation and accounting to make an impact across various industries. Along the way, you’ll build relationships and skills to set you up for a lifetime of success.

What will a normal day look like? Well, you can count on that every day you will:

  • Help employers build trust by meeting their Australian employment tax and entitlement obligations, including Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Superannuation Guarantee (SG), Pay-As-You-Go Withholding (PAYG W), Payroll Tax (PRT), Workers Compensation (WC) and payroll obligations, including navigating them through an increasingly complex tax and regulatory environment
  • Assist businesses with finance transformations and automation of employment tax and payroll compliance obligations, including the use of data analytics to provide insights for decision-making purposes
  • Develop and provide technical and strategic advice to employers, including large corporations, governments, SMEs and not-for-profits
