As an essential team member, the Application Security Engineer intern is responsible for the detection and mitigation of potential security threats to software applications. They will play a crucial role in supporting the development team by implementing solutions to ensure that the company's systems and data remain secure. Their duties may include conducting security assessments, implementing security measures, performing vulnerability testing, and educating other team members on best practices for secure application development.

Key Responsabilites & Duties 

• Develop technical security solutions for issues in development and testing.
• Prepare for and participate in project engineering reviews.
• Contribute to designs and definitions of security solution components.
• Work with the engineering team on solutions and alignment with existing and pipeline security solutions.
• Engage with various security technology vendors, conduct technical assessments, and provide recommendations to customers. 
• Operate within an Agile construct to develop continuously evolving solutions for customers.

Essential Selection Criteria

• Experience in developing with Java, JavaScript and other languages
• Knowledge and understanding of cyber security principles, theories and concepts.
• An understanding of both SOAP and REST-based methodologies
• Expertise in security testing of applications and systems
• Adept at supporting the design and development of secure systems, applications, or networks
• Able to learn new security technologies and concepts and incorporate them into solution design 
• Able to assist with the delivery of web-based security designs for external stakeholders

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology or related field
• Exposure to implementing security controls and mitigating security risks
• Some knowledge of industry standards and government regulations
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated Mentor and Placement Consultant to guide, coach and offer career advice throughout the internship placement.
