Social Media Manager - Intern/Volunteer

The organisation: The World Literacy Foundation is a global not-for-profit that works to lift young people out of poverty through literacy. Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2003, the World Literacy Foundation operates on the principle that education is a basic human right.

Position description As our Social Media Manager - Intern/Volunteer, you will be responsible for creating our social media strategy and coordinating, curating, creating, and scheduling high-quality content for our organic social channels. You will also work closely with the marketing team to help meet strategic goals. You'll have a hyper-creative eye with graphic design skills and a deep understanding of organic social platforms. This role will require content creation outside of business hours, social media posting, and community engagement.

Tasks:

  • Working with the Marketing Team to update and implement a social media strategy.
  • Content creation for social media: Produce and publish original, high-quality content including copywriting
  • Creating reels and smaller social media videos
  • Implement a content calendar to manage content.
  • Coordinate and schedule social media posts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & LinkedIn) and liaise with staff and other stakeholders to identify post ideas.
  • Plan and write blogs that bring value to the brand's readers
  • Community engagement, answering direct comments of our social communities.
  • Perform research on social media trends and competitor activity

Relevant Skills

  • Technical skills in a variety of social media platforms
  • Experience in creating content for social media platforms, (especially Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn).
  • Great writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Positive mindset and an ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Problem solving skills and a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to use Canva and/or Adobe Suite plus website and electronic direct mail platforms (similar to WordPress and Mailchimp)
  • Student or graduate in Marketing, Design, Media and Communication or related professions
